Our Aims
“Our aim is to provide a safe, caring environment where children can develop their surf life saving and competitive skills whilst enjoying the experience.”
A wonderful history....
The distinctive colours of red, white and blue are well known throughout Australia as one of South Australia’s most successful surf life saving clubs, Grange. The Grange Surf Life Saving Club was formed in October 1955 after an 11 year old boy jumped off the jetty to rescue a girl. Both got into difficulty swimming and sadly, they both lost their lives.
The Junior Division started in 1968 with 11 boys joining for the first time and (as at 2008/09) has grown to approximately 350 boys and girls ranging in ages from 5 to 13 years.
Activities
The Junior surf season runs from October to March. The Club teaches a wide range of skills that are essential for children who regularly participate in beach activities at both social and competitive levels. The perfect environment to develop self-esteem, friendships and is a community based caring organisation.
Specialist Coaches are available
The Club has a number of specialist coaches that conduct training to ensure that the skills are passed on are from well-trained and knowledgeable volunteers, to all members. There are a number of training sessions available for specific disciplines.
Parents and Guardians
Besides the social aspect of meeting families with similar interests, there are a number of activities that parents and guardians can get involved in. Whether it is obtaining your Bronze Medallion, competing at Masters level or helping to patrol the beach, all encourage participation.
