Welcome to Grange Nippers!

Grange Nippers is the junior program of Grange Surf Life Saving Club, designed for children aged 5 to 13 years. The program builds beach safety awareness, confidence in the ocean, fitness, teamwork and inclusiveness. It follows Surf Life Saving Australia’s National Surf Education Program and supports children of all abilities as they learn essential surf lifesaving skills and gradually progress toward surf sports competition.

Grange SLSC is a family‑focused, community‑driven club. With guidance from trained instructors, Nippers develop leadership, resilience and independence while learning how to stay safe at the beach. Most importantly, they gain a sense of belonging and make friendships that last well beyond the season.

Season Dates & Training Program

The junior surf life saving season runs from mid‑October to mid‑March.

Grange SLSC offers a full training program with optional weekday sessions and a main training session held on Saturday afternoons. Across the season, Nippers can also participate in junior carnivals, usually held on Sundays (4 to 5 Carnival ans State Championships) .

All detailed weekly training schedules, updates and location changes are communicated to members through Facebook and Spond.

2026–27 Season Start Dates

Nippers (U8–U13): Expected to start Saturday 17 October 2026.
Tiny Tots (U6–U7): Expected to start Saturday 17 October 2026.

‘Come & Try’ dates for the 2026–27 season will be published on this page once confirmed.

Session Times

Nippers (U8–U13): Arrive 12:45pm, finish around 3:30pm - Kitchen & Bar are open until 5pm
Tiny Tots (U6–U7): Run from 1:15pm to 2:30pm - Kitchen & Bar are open until 5pm

Parking can be busy in Summer, so please allow extra time to arrive on time.

Nipper Age Groups

The Grange Nippers program caters for children aged from 5 to 13. The Under 6 and Under 7 age groups participate in a modified program called Tiny Tots. A child’s age group is based on their age at the start of the surf life saving season (1 October).

Under 6 | 5 years old on 30 September (or once they turn 5 during the season)
Under 7 | 6 years old on 30 September

New and renewing members

New and renewing membership fees are available on our Membership page.

Additional costs may apply for items such as club uniforms, competition gear, and optional training sessions (pool).

Sports Vouchers

Grange SLSC participates in the South Australian Government’s Sports Vouchers program. The program provides an opportunity for children from Reception to Year 9 to receive up to a $200 discount on their membership fees*
