Safety is our priority.

Grange Surf Life Saving Club is committed to providing a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for every child and young person involved in our Nippers program. We follow Surf Life Saving South Australia’s Child Safe Policy, which outlines the standards, behaviours and responsibilities required to protect children across all surf lifesaving activities.

Our club ensures that all club volunteers, Life Savers, Age Group Leaders, coaches and committee members working with children hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) and complete the required Child Safe training. We promote safe practices at all times, including appropriate supervision ratios, safe physical contact guidelines, clear communication expectations and respectful behaviour between adults and children.

Grange SLSC also supports Surf Life Saving SA’s broader member protection framework, which includes:

• Member Protection Policy

• Code of Conduct for Adults and Children

• Safeguarding Children and Young People Guidelines

• Reporting and Responding to Concerns Procedures

• Complaints and Grievance Processes

If a member, parent or child has any concerns, they are encouraged to speak with a Parent Representative or a member of the club’s Child Safety Team. Concerns can also be reported directly through Surf Life Saving SA’s official reporting channels.

Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO)

Member Protection Information Officer have an important role within community and sporting organisations. They provide information and independant guidance on complaints procedures and are the first point of call in the club for any enquiries, concerns or complaints about harassment, abuse or other inappropriate behaviour. The MPIO provides information about possible ways to resolve the issue and offers moral support to the person who raises the concern or the person who is the subject of the alleged behaviour. The MPIO will treat all information as strictly confidential. They do not report to Club board. They are impartial and do not investigate or mediate complaints. mpio@grangeslsc.asn.au

Child Safety Officer

A Child Safe Officer promote the message that keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility. Every club must work towards minimising risk to children and the Child Safe Officer helps to ensure everyone is aware of the club’s policies and procedures to support this goal and can act on any incidents. Our Child Safety Officers along our MPIO are available to discuss any sensitive issues should you need. Please feel welcome to discuss your concerns, they are often around the club during training sessions or you may email them via: childsafety@grangeslsc.asn.au

Parent Representatives

Our Parent Representatives are available if you have any concerns or feedback. They are available most Saturdays on the beach or after training in the club rooms. Please feel welcome to approach them on Saturdays or email: juniorsparentrep@grangeslsc.asn.au
